IN-SIGHT: Gustav Klimt – The
Bride
At the heart of the exhibition is Gustav Klimt’s unfinished late work „The Bride“, begun
in 1917 and left incomplete due to the artist’s unexpected death in February 1918. The exhibition offers a multi-layered perspective
on this painting, drawing on numerous studies and preparatory sketches. Particular focus is placed on the comparison between
the graphite drawings and the painting itself. The show also traces the eventful history of the work – from its creation and
ownership to its present-day display at the Belvedere.
