Presentation at “Hull International Short Film Festival” in the series “Short Filmmaker in Focus: Virgil Widrich”, Hull Screen. 17.10.2003, 10 pm - 12 am.

From the catalogue: “Short Filmmaker in Focus” is a key feature of the programme and is where we present a filmmaker whose work we have followed and admired. This year we are honoured to present Austrian filmmaker, Virgil Widrich, director of “Copy Shop” and “Fast Film”, as this year’s short filmmaker in focus. His work is especially interesting in light of our critical study: What is Cinema? All of Virgil Widrich’s short films from 1998 to 2003 deal with different aspects of the nature of cinema: time, identity and space. Furthermore, his work is an excellent example of the kind of innovative and unique work the festival is keen to present to a larger public, and he is the most appropriate short filmmaker to present in this part of the programme. We are exceptionally pleased that Virgil Widrich will also join us for this event.
